Consumers and corporations using Microsoft Corp.'s new Windows XP (news - web sites) software are being warned by the FBI (news - web sites) to take added steps against hackers who might try to take advantage of major flaws. The bureau's National Infrastructure Protection Center said Friday that, in addition to installing a free software fix offered by Microsoft on the company's Web site, consumers and corporations using Windows XP should disable the product's ``universal plug and play'' features affected by the glitches. | ||

I agree, that I'm totally confused by this... It seems like this has been somewhat blown out of proportion, but on the other hand there may be more to this than just the service.

The REAL question is if this patch is SO important, how come it took Microsoft over THREE days to post it on Windows Update?
This was brought up on ZDTV's Screen Savers last Thursday as well, and they questioned the reason (whatever it was) too. This is not the first time that critical updates haven't been posted to Windows Update in a timely fashion. TL |

The REAL question is why does TechLarry not understand the concept of full regression testing?
Would you rather Microsoft simply delay the patch release another 3-4 days until they can safely place it on windowsupdate? |
