Byron has reviewed the ATI X800 Pro 256 MB. Here is an excerpt: Half Life 2 was one of the most sought after titles ever released when it came out last month and I am glad to say I don't think anyone was disappointed with the game (maybe Steam, but not the game). The graphical performance is as good as I hoped it would be, there are some areas in the game where it does slow down, but not enough to distract from the excellent gameplay on show here. Half Life 2 is probably the best looking title out right now, and with the excellent graphic effects and some great physics on show, it has to be the title you buy to show off a spanking new PC. | ||

| Just my opinion, but based on graphics alone (not gameplay) I would have put Doom 3 ahead of Half Life 2, but I agree that Far Cry was a fantastic effort from Ubi Soft! A great card it is, and if it wasn't so expensive I'd upgrade, but my 9800 Pro is enough for the time being. |

How can this card get an award when it's not even compared to the competitors offering, especially the 6800 GT ?
Quote from the review : "Although we have reviewed the PCI version of the card" PCI ? I would have thought it was the AGP version... Oh and by the way there's no PCI-Express version of the X800 Pro. | My fault I should have checked through it more than 3 times to corrent the mistake. As for the award, its pretty simple for a reviewer with common sense. You review the product you are given, compare it to others around and like the review stated, its overall a better card than the GeForce offering apart from Doom 3 performance. Unfortunatly we don't have all the cards from other companies like some sites do, this review was based on across the board performance, not just 3d gaming, but windows performance too. It's an excellent card. |
