| These are also for Exchange 2003, which is the reason that Windows Server 2003 is listed as a supported OS. (These tools must be installed on the Exchange Server and Exchange 2000 is not supported on Windows Server 2003.) |

KnightHawk, what part are you talking about? The part about the SDK tools being for Exchange 2003 or the part about Exchange 2000 not being supported on Windows Server 2003?
The fact that these SDK tools work with Exchange 2003 is documented in the README included with the download and viewable at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/ExchReadme/htms/DevelopmentToolsReadMejune2003.asp?frame=true#_Prerequisites The fact that Exchange 2000 is not supported on Windows Server 2003 is documented on the Exchange site at http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/evaluation/ti/TiWin2003.doc (see Table 1 on Page 2). You may be confused by the fact that Exchange 2000 is supported in a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory forest and domain, meaning you can have Windows Server 2003 as domain controller(s) as long as Exchange 2000 is not actually on a Windows Server 2003 box. |

knapier, where exactly are the contradictory docs? The Exchange 2000 "Tour" at http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/evaluation/tour/tour.asp hasn't been updated since May 21, 2001 so it obviously doesn't cover either SP4 nor Windows Server 2003. The doc I cited above (http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/evaluation/ti/TiWin2003.doc) was posted April 24, 2003 and directly addresses this issue head-on. That's why it's entitled "Exchange Compatibility with Windows Server Operating Systems."
I really don't see where there is any confusion, unless you're just skimming carelessly. |
