Interesting comment about 64-bit Linux.
I have noticed recently that stores like Best Buy have largely given up on selling Linux. They do still have Redhat, but only the $150 version. Is the Frying Pan of Reality finally starting to catch up with Linux vendors? As far as this Sun guy.... He seems pretty down on Microsoft and Intel. But then, there are those of us who remember back prior to 1995 when Sun wasn't a player in the enterprise market. Apparently they've forgotten that it isn't that big of a leap to get there. |

I love how he conveniently dismisses all the apps running on Itanium and says "What apps are running on Itanium 2" which hasn't been out very long.
I also love how he conveniently dismisses Solaris x86, and the security improvements in Windows 2003 and only mentions a hand-ful. He also forgets how Solaris' security is mostly a joke. It still has permission bits and isn't Orangebook or Redbook compliant. |
