Microsoft debuts Bluetooth-based wireless computing for holidays | |

Software giant Microsoft Corp. , hoping to attract holiday season shoppers, Tuesday will debut a wireless keyboard and mouse combination, including a device that could link computers to multiple electronic devices without using cables. Analysts said the package could also provide a shot in the arm to Bluetooth, an emerging standard aimed at replacing cables with short-range wireless links. | ||

Well then M$ is stupid!!! Bluetooth will eventually take over wireless because it it portable, but they still have to fix on the range issue. This will happen in time, besides if M$ does not support it then why in the hell did they make a keyboard & mouse Combi?

| Thanks for the reinforcement, n. Ya, belto, I didn't say they didn't support it. Quite obviously, with software support and hardware products, they are supporting it and are planning more for the future. I was commenting that things don't take off in the industry without Microsoft behind them. |

To add:
MS always had the intention of supporting Bluetooth (hence the MS employee on the board). The reason they didn't ship Bluetooth with XP RTM was because their weren't enough consistent devices available to test the stack against. |

I agree with you, but that is why M$ are in court right now. Not one in a specialized field has the right to control it 100%. That is what a open & free market are for I guess. belto... |

It is the open and free market that gave Microsoft it's market share to begin with. Let's try not to forget that. It is the closed and controlled market pretending to be a free market that is suing the free market.
Why don't I stand in the conspiracy theory line. Back in the fall of 2000, the Democrats (and let's not get started on this Dem vs. Rep debate) claimed that the Floridians were being ignored and that their votes were not being counted. The actions of the "Justice" Department along with the Attornies General of 19 other states have sought to ignore the votes of citizens of our free market. |

| Yeah, it's not in SP1. I think the stack will be available shortly. There is a link on MS Downloads, but it currently leads to the hwdev Bluetooth info page. |
