Time to ditch Java for .Net? Not yet | |

Much has been written about the virtues of .Net. But as Builder.com's Lamont Adams pointed out in a recent article, "I'm confused...What is '.Net' anyway?," the developer world is a long way from adopting .Net as the de facto standard for development tools. So when someone in your office suggests that you drop your shop's love affair with Java and start up anew with .Net, tell him ".Nyet." The only reason you should even consider such a drastic and potentially expensive move is if your biggest paying customers threaten to take their business elsewhere if you don't. | ||

I thought ".Nyet" was pretty creative.
Another issue the author didn't mention is the those that write Java via J++. For them, using J# might provide great benefits both in the short term and in the long term. |

James... We are in the post-PC world now. Desktops are dead... PDAs are the new thing! :)
DOH! I agree, what is even the point of this article? Am I going to rewrite Java code with .NET? No. Am I going to write a new project with .Net instead of Java? Yes. |

I really wish we could get even ONE reasonably intelligent tech journalist... I've not seen one to this date.
The fact is, there are sometimes where using .NET would be better than Java, and vice versa. |

Those who can't teach, write. lol I'm so sick of these articles. They're all the same. "Time to ditch BetaMax? Not yet!" Sure, there are still niches that use BetaMax, but it's mostly dead. In a couple years, only the ABMers will be using Java. |

Richard, I'm not criticizing their technique, I'm criticizing their completely close-minded thought processes, where they always think it's either one or the other, however, the world just doesn't work that way.
James, because my goal is to be the guy that makes the stuff that the dumbass tech journalists write about... :) |
