| I'm glad to see that mention of System Restore in the caption. There was quite an uproar about the last beta (even though that beta was technically new than this one) was released. |

I think 2848 is the private beta (unless the build on the site is incorrect).
The public betas lag behind the private betas so they can go through greater stability and compatability testing. |

| doh! i was just going to say that el. n, i have public beta of wmp (not one of the leaked ones, but the one right from windowsmedia.com) which i got whenever it was released a few weeks back and it's 2848. |

| Ah ha! In Help | About it says 2848 from the first public beta. If you check wmplayer.exe, however, the version is 9.0.0.2799. So, we're all right at the same time. And once again right about Microsoft and their versioning. : - ) |

| Nope, I've never had anything other than the first public beta. I just upgrading using the link at the top if this page and Help | About still says 2848, but the .exe now says 2800 instead of 2799. |

I got the samething as Bob,
and 2799, both the help|about and the file said 2799 in 2800 the exe says 2800 but the help|about says 2848 El |
