Miracle: New Creative Sound Blaster Live! Drivers Available For Download | |

We can qualify this news as a real miracle. Creative Asia has just released brand new drivers and applications for the Sound Blaster Live! cards. The download is split in several packages and work only with Windows 2000 and Windows XP. According to Creative, the new drivers resolve compatibility issues with Sound Blaster Live! products on Windows 2000 and Windows XP (that's about time...). Below are the revision numbers of the updated Creative applications:
Those new drivers don't support Windows 9x. Creative should also release the same updates for the Audigy cards very soon. Choose your package to start your download below, note that if you choose the drivers only download it's possible to download individually Creative applications: | ||

| These drivers still cause winxp to crash when using O&O Defrag V4 4.0 PRO. I was hoping they would have fixed this. |

I already throw that SBLive! out of window and re-installed my old Vortex 2 card. M$ is nice enough to re-write the Vortex 2 driver in XP even though the company Aureal has gone out of business long time ago.
I'll never buy another SB card unless they throw out their decade old driver technology -- so-called ring-3 technology that loads a program called DevLdr32.exe constantly to your memory. And the only purpose of that program, IMHO, is to crash your machine constantly. It's time for unCreavtive learn something new. |

Devldr doesn't crash my system, it just hangs up on logoff or reboot (have to force it to close, actually).

| #12, until Windows XP SBLive! driver, all the Windows built-in drivers do not offer any hardware acceleration for DirectSound and EAX for SBLive! cards. You have to install unCreative drivers for your card to work as advertised. |

| The only Creative Drivers I installed for Xp were the ones that were an update just for XP. I did not do anything else, no liveware crap or anything and mine work fine. So I will just pass this update by, then again I am thinking of a Hercules card as soon as I find the time to work on my PC hardware wise. |
