Saving Private Ryan (DTS)
Screenshot #1 Screenshot #2 Screenshot #3 A Star studded cast, including Tom Hanks, Tom Sizemore, Matt Damon, Edward Burns, & many other famous actors bring this epic story to life. State of the art special effects, a moving soundtrack, and some of the best war footage shot since Full Metal Jacket. This movie begins with a veteran visiting a cemetery where his comrades were put to rest after the war. Then a flashback leading to the infamous storming of Normandy beach. Horrific, gory violence ensues for about 20 min or so. We then learn the plot line for the movie. Private Ryan's 3 brothers were killed during the war so the army saw it fit to retrieve him and bring him home. Tom Hanks and his crew are given this task. All of the actors did a fabulous job in this picture. They bring out the emotion and hopelessness that war gives to people.
This DVD has fantastic picture and sound quality. If you own a DTS decoder and system, this is by far the BEST title out there to show it off. Little nuances, such as gun fire popping off in the background. Or dirt falling from a recent explosion can be heard. There isn't much for extras on the DTS version as it uses most of the space for the extra DTS audio track. The reason I bought this DVD is because the people at Vulture Shop screwed up on the price and had the DTS and regular DD 5.1 discs at the same price. This isn't usually the case. Saving Private Ryan is yet another achievement that Steven Spielberg should be proud of. I am proud to own this title in my DVD collection.
