For a long time since its release at the cinema and on video I had wondered what this film was about. People I knew said it was a brilliant film and that I should see it. It was one of those films that sits in the back of your mind to go see, but you aren't that eager to run out and see it. Well a few weeks back the movie finally came to me.

Walking through the shop I saw Jerry Maguire sitting there on the shelf and the note on it saying it was nominated for 5 Oscars. I couldn't resist. So what is the film about? Well for the people that haven't seen it before here is a brief synopsis of what it is about. Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise) is a Sports Agent. He is one of the best and the master of his trade.

One day he was in the hospital seeing one of his clients there suffering from another concussion and as he leaves the clients son gives him the bird. Later on in the night he gets struck by an attack of morals and eventually fired. He loses all his clients except one, Rod Tidwell (Oscar Winner, Cuba Gooding Jnr - Outbreak), a single mother Dorothy Boyd (Renee Zellweger - Reality Bites) and her son Ray. Cuba Gooding Jnr gives a very strong performance in this movie, making you smile and laugh and sometimes bring tears to your eyes by some of the comments he makes. The only bad thing I would say about this movie is that the romance side of the movie is that little bit to predictable. Besides that small niggle it is an excellent movie and I recommend it to everyone -- on video.

The DVD version of this film has great picture quality and excellent sound, but the main reason people buy DVD's is to get those little extras. Sadly Jerry Maguire doesn't have those added extras. There is the choice to choose scenes from the main menu, but that is about it. The lack of these added extras is the reason why this DVD is getting a low mark. If there was at least 2 or 3 extras then it would be a must DVD to get.
