MPEG-2 Channels To Go Live On The Net!
ASPEN, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 5,
2000--thebroadscreen.com, announced today that it has laid all of the
groundwork to begin MPEG-2 production of digital news and entertainment
over broadband Internet connections. The format will be dubbed iDVD(sm)
which stands for Internet Digital Video Disk which is a take off of DVD
which stands for Digital Versatile Disk, a format becoming widely popular
for the distribution of video and interactive entertainment worldwide.
Along with MPEG-2 production using encoder software
developed by Digigami, Inc. (San Diego, CA), thebroadscreen.com will
incorporate FLASH technology developed by Macromedia, Inc. (San Francisco,
CA). Thebroadscreen.com is a private venture created by Randy Miller of
Carbondale, Co. conceived to take advantage of new markets and
entertainment possibilities that broadband Internet now offers. The same
``channel'' concept as used in cable and satellite TV will also be
incorporated into thebroadscreen.com's website giving potential viewers
even more choices in how to spend their viewing time as well as
revolutionizing the way people interact with the entertainment and
advertising presented.
Thebroadscreen.com will follow a planned development
cycle including the forming of a corporation and conservative
capitalization goals within the next 45-60 days. Revenues will be
generated through advertising and one premium pay channel (Broadline
Entertainment). The first entertainment offering will be through the K9
Channel(sm) and the Explorer Channel(sm) which will present a half hour
documentary on the Redstone Sled Dog Races to be held February 19th in
Redstone Colorado.
Other channels include the Ski and Snowboard Channel(sm),
the Children's Channel(sm), CNC Citizen's News Channel(sm), Interactive
Gamer(sm), and iDVD Music Videos(sm) with other channels contemplated all
of which can be downloaded into the new DVD ram recorders that are coming
on to the market this year or played live over cable and DSL connections.
Unlike cable or satellite which provides a month of entertainment
selections at best, offers no interactivity with advertisers or the
program itself and can be called static entertainment, all of our
entertainment offerings will be archived for future download and will
include links, forms and other ways to interact with the content and
advertising which will provide for a rich dynamic online experience.
