Adding DirectX To Your Control Panel

Supplied by: David Bitonti

If you browse the contents of a DirectX CD (5.0 or 6.0), you can find a file called directx.cpl (you could also do a Find>File). Copy directx.cpl to your /windows/system folder, and then you'll have a DirectX applet in your Control Panel that allows you to change a lot of settings.
