For some reason the work offline dialogue box keeps popping up on my dad's PC and he can't connect to the web. Running XP, IE 7 and have a broadband connection. When I go to file and uncheck work offline, the box won't pop up but we still can't connect to the web. Called ISP (Comcast) and they said everthing looks fine from their end and that it must be the PC. Any ideas?

If your dad's PC can't connect to the internet but others can on the same broadband connection, then the issue is with that particular PC. There could be several causes: 1. Virus/worm/malware - what antivirus/security suite is he using? 2. Did this problem start after downloading/installing a particular program, or visiting a particular website? 3. Check under Device Manager to see if there's a physical problem with the network card. i.e. there's a possibility that the NIC (wired or wireless) is not working correctly. Check for any exclamation points next to devices in Device Manager. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway 15.4" Laptop, Windows 7 Ultimate (including Virtual PC/XP Mode and three VM's of Server 2008), Photoshop CS4
