Most likely, the recovery DVD from your friend's Sony won't work. Sony, in particular, makes recovery DVD's specific to that particular model. Contact Sony and see about getting a replacement DVD. And next time - choose a password that is secure enough, but that you can also remember. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 700C - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, ATi Radeon 9550; SB Audigy SE; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200

www.sony.com Check their support section - they have the phone numbers for their customer support that you can call. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 700C - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, ATi Radeon 9550; SB Audigy SE; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200

Obtaing the recovery DVD will do the same. The key item missing from that Sony website is your copy of Vista Home Premium. You can, of course, go out and buy another copy of it, but you'd have to download all these drivers/patches to a separate CD. One thing to note - Sony's drivers work only on the OS that came with your computer. i.e. If you decide you want to put Vista Ultimate on it instead of Vista Home Premium, many of the drivers will not work. I know this because I had to coach my niece while she tried to fix her dad's new laptop. Any more questions, contact Sony. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 700C - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, ATi Radeon 9550; SB Audigy SE; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200
