Hi! I am new at this, so please bear with me if I don't understand very clearly. And I do not know if this post is okay in this section, if not, please let me know and I'll change the location. Yesterday I had a problem with my PC (who runs on a x64 operating system) I was trying to play GTA on it when it suddenly froze and wouldn't let me do anything, so I punched the restart button. The BIOS screen went OK, but just before the "Windows XP is loading" screen... well, the already mentioned screen went black and never got to the already mentioned loading screen, it just went black. I checked the LED to see if there was any activity on the HDD and there was none. But this, is not my problem. I already managed to fix that one by entering the recovery console and by rewriting the boot files (or something like that, I can't remember) with the "fixmbr" command. This absolutely fixed my problem, cause right after that I restarted and Windows worked just fine. Now, the real problem. When I tried to use Internet Explorer I got the usual message saying that there is no connection. So I did what natural comes to me, and went to Control Panel to open the Network Connections. I'll sum this up: A day has passed with me searching through forums and forums with never ending similar problems, and I haven't found a solution. I've already tried the Winsockfix pogram and nothing hppened. I've already tried this: netsh winsock reset catalog and netsh int ip reset reset.log and nothing happened. I also should state that I have two desktops connected to the same modem. One PC is connected via USB, and the other (the one with the problem) is connected via Ethernet. I've already tried to conect the "good" PC to internet trough the Ethernet cable, and it worked just fine, so it is not the cable. And I can't conect the "bad" PC to internet via USB cause there are no drivers for my modem that works on the x64 Operating System, and that is why I have to fix this problem. I keep getting the "Limited or no connectivity" warning globe. And it also sys that the network did not assign a network address. Obviously, trying to renew the IP Address does squat. I've already tried to assign manually an IP address (the same one that my "good" PC has) but obviously, it said that there was a conflict there. I thank in advance for reading this post, but please, help me solve this problem. ---------------------------------------------- Long Days and Pleasant Nights.
