| dwwin.exe is for Dr. Watson (MS's diagnostic program). AcroRd32.exe is Adobe Acrobat Reader. By chance do you have Gravis joystick or gamepad installed? The software for these has been known to cause these problems. You can also run RegClean from Microsoft or try Windows OneCare's online scan to check for any registry problems. Problems like this are usually caused by a software install that's messed up the registry somewhere. We've been having this problem on and off around campus. I read somewhere that it has to do with the browser add-on's for Adobe. I've disabled all of them and that stopped the problem for me. Just another option.
To disable, open I.E. and choose Manage Add-Ons; disable all the acrobat entries.

| Just go to My Computer, Properties, Advanced, and Change the Virtual Memory setting by increasing it. I called into Dell and they had me disable everything at start up and some of the services (including Norton!!). The things is, I want to see my audio icon, Norton status, power status and alarm manager for Palm Desktop (4 icons only). I don't see why I should have to shut them off? Isn't that kind of compensating for a problem and not fixing it? Last night I got the dwwwin.exe and adobe errors so I updated to V8. Today I am back to getting a memory referencing error on shut down. I went to the Advanced Windows Care link and ran that but I still get this darn memory referencing error on shutdown. It appears and disappears so quickly I can't get the numbers. I don't understand why I am having these issues? The laptop is 3 months old. In my last two jobs I had Compaqs and never had to disable anything on start up! I NEVER had a sneeze from either of them. Now I feel like I got a lemon with this Dell. Thoughts? Thanks for your help. |

I had removed Adobe and am using Foxit, but some programs default to Adobe so it reinstalled 7 as a reader and that's when the problem started. |

| I am getting the same error; however, I do not believe that it has anything to do with Adobe because I used the "fix" that is listed in the chats and I am still getting the same error. Is there another cause for the problem? |
