I think what windowswiz was trying to say is some 3rd party program you installed is not compatible with windows xp, and when it crashes all your explorer and ie windows close.

What you need to do is right click my computer, left click manage, double click event viewer, double click applicatiomn. Look for any errors and write them down. What your looking for is appname: xxx, modname: xxx. If you can narrow down to what application owns the modname, uninstall that application. Things that can cause this are spyware, filtering software like netnanny, webhancers, download managers, browsers, file sharing programs, you name it.
