Check device manager to see what other drivers need to be installed first (i.e. the popup indicating a bus driver needs to be installed indicates that the built in soundcard is part of a system bus) ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 1800 - P4 1.8gz, 512mb RAM, ATi Radeon 8500; SB Live Value; Windows XP Professional, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D2Hs and D100

I'm @ssuming you have WinXP SP 2 installed. Try this...go to System in Control Panel, click on the hardware tab and then device manager. Right click on the multimedia audio controler and choose to uninstall. Reboot and let WinXP search for the driver (including the internet). 95% of the time it will find the correct driver and install. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 1800 - P4 1.8gz, 512mb RAM, ATi Radeon 8500; SB Live Value; Windows XP Professional, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D2Hs and D100

Just did a Google on Realtek. Check their site - there may be a driver there (www.realtek.com) ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 1800 - P4 1.8gz, 512mb RAM, ATi Radeon 8500; SB Live Value; Windows XP Professional, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D2Hs and D100

I went to Intel's web site, selected Support and Downloads, chose Desktop Driver Board Updates, scrolled down to the ONLY 845 board listed, and...volla!
