After reading thru the scenerio, my first thought is that the HD became damaged in the power outage (as evidenced by errors being reported in scandisc). If the mobo was damaged, you would probably receive warning beeps. As to the video card, you might experience random reboots (had the video card memory crap out on one card I had, that caused this - usually at the worst time - editing in Photoshop). First suggestion - get a UPS, and a new hard drive and try a clean install from there. After installing WinXP, install SP2, and go from there. Before doing the clean install, check for a BIOS update for the motherboard. If you can snag a copy of PC Doctor from a friend, that's a good utility to check the hardware for problems. or, try Download.com for hardware utilities. Hope this helps as a starting point. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway 700C - P4 1.8gz, 512mb RAM, ATi Radeon 8500; SB Live Value; Windows XP Professional, Photoshop CS, Nikon D100
