| Creating a network under WinXP is very easy. Connect each computer to the router. Connect the router to your internet connection (if your using DSL or Cable, check with your provider to see if they have any special requirements - some identify you by the MAC address of the network card in your computer - routers usually have the ability to "clone" the MAC address). Go to Network and Internet Connections in the Control Panel. Select "Setup or change your home or small office network". Follow the on screen prompts. The main thing to remember is to give each computer a different name, but assign the same name to each for the name of the network (i.e. WORKGROUP, HOME, etc). Thats about it. | Definitely disable ICF (part of Windows XP). Go to Network and Internet Connections, then Network Connections. Open up the LAN connections icon, choose Properties, then Advanced. Deselect the ICF. | On the WinXP machine, do you have Internet Connection Firewall enabled? If so, disable it. Also, as I mentioned above, all computers in a workgroup need to have the same workgroup name. Can you "see" the Win2000 machine from the WinXP machine?
