That's correct.
Works includes Microsoft Word, a spreadsheet, a database, and a few other programs. It is aimed at home users, so it doesn't include a lot of the more advanced functionality of MS Office. |

For the most part.
Depending on what version of Works she had, it may have included some other software that Office can't replace. I haven't had much exposure to Works in a while. Any spreadsheet or word processor documents should transfer over to Office. Check out http://works.msn.com for more info on the programs that come with it.
