Microsoft Unveil Pricing For Office 2000

Microsoft has unveiled pricing and promotions for its Office 2000 suite of desktop applications, which is now slated to ship in the second quarter of this year.

Office 2000 Premium Edition--which will include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Publisher, Small Business Tools, FrontPage 2000, and PhotoDraw 2000--will be priced at $399 for suite users who are upgrading and at $449 for those upgrading from non-Microsoft applications.

Office 2000 Professional Edition, which does not include FrontPage or PhotoDraw, will cost $309 for upgrades and $349 for new users. Both the Standard edition and the Small Business version will cost $209 for the suite upgrade and $249 for other upgrades. Both of those editions lack Access.

Microsoft is also offering a free upgrade to any users who buy Office 97 between now and the launch of Office 2000. An upgrade price of $100 will be charged to those wanting to upgrade to the Premium version, which did not exist in an Office 97 edition.
